In order to provide long term assistance to impoverished people in the Tissamaharama area of Sri Lanka, we have funded a micro finance loan program which will enable hundreds of families to improve their livelihood.  These small loans allow individuals to buys tools, supplies and other items necessary to establish a source of income which will benefit their entire family, improve their self esteem and make them more self reliant.

Individuals are using the loans to establish various types of businesses including sewing clothes, farming, making clay pots, making batik clothing and making bricks.  These businesses provide essential income for their families.

We are working with the Sri Lankan NGO, YES Foundation, which is active in this area and has significant experience in running this type of program.  They are doing a great job in operating this program.  The loan repayment rate is 100% and the program has made a real difference in the communities where it is operating.
