Volunteers of America of Los Angeles Sri Lanka Relief Fund was established to provide both short term emergency aid as well as long term assistance to those affected by the tsunami.

In early January 2005, Volunteers of America of Los Angeles distributed aid to those in dire need of assistance.  Each day, large quantities of food and water were purchased, loaded into a van and were brought to hundreds of individuals struggling to survive. 

Aid was distributed to nearly all areas in need and to those of all ethnic and religious backgrounds.
